STEPHENS-Mrs. Dollie L. Shackleford Stephens, age 62, of Langley, S.C., loving wife of Melvin Stephens, Sr. and daughter of the late Denver James Shackleford and the late Bessie Laws Shackleford, entered into eternal rest and went to be with Jesus on her birthday, Saturday, December 28, 2013. In addition to her husband, she is survived by sons, Melvin Stephens, Jr. of Aiken, S.C., Wendell Stephens of Langley, S.C. and Gillis Stephens of North Augusta, S.C.; a daughter, Tina Bennett of Harlan, Kentucky; a sister, Mary Regan of North Augusta, S.C.; brothers, Bobby Shackleford of Langley, S.C. and John Shackleford of Kentucky; fourteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She was born in Harlan, Kentucky but had lived most of her life in Aiken County, S.C. She was a housewife, loving mother, sister, grandmother and friend. She was a second mom to many. The definition of her name was a “Gift of Godâ€, and this she truly was. She shall be greatly missed by her family and many friends; however, death cannot destroy precious memories, and she shall live on forever in the hearts of all whose lives she touched during the 62 years that God granted her on this earth. She has finished life’s journey and is now at peace with her maker, the Lord Jesus Christ. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday evening, December 30th from 7:00 to 9:00 PM. A service celebrating her life and home going will be held at Howlandville Baptist Church on Tuesday, December 31, 2013 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Josh McClendon officiating. The interment will follow at the Graniteville Cemetery. Napier Funeral Home, 315 Main St., Graniteville, S.C. is in charge of the funeral arrangements.
