Denzil "Dick" W. Smith

SMITH-Denzil W. (Dick) Smith, age 76, of Graniteville, S.C., went home to be with his Savior on February 24, 2014. He will be remembered by his family as a Godly man who loved his Lord, his family and his church. Dick was a lifelong member of Calvary Baptist Church, where he served faithfully for many years as a deacon and choir member. He was active in the Senior Men’s Sunday School Class until his declining health. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Joanne; two daughters, Kim (Greg) Butler and Karen (Eric) Rains; six grandchildren, Erica (Carl) Johnson, Tyler (Julie) Rains, Whitney (Phillip) Bunn, Scott Rains, Ally Rains and Casey Rains; two great grandchildren, Ashton Johnson and Lawton Johnson; sisters, Barbara Taylor and Patricia (Olen) Berry and a brother, Ronnie (Marisue) Smith. Dick was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Smith. The funeral service will be held at Calvary Baptist Church in Graniteville, S.C. on Wednesday, February 26, 2014 at 2:00 PM with Rev. James Young, Rev. Steve Gillette and nephew, Rev. Ron Smith officiating. The interment will follow at the Graniteville Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service beginning at 1:00 PM.
