LANIER-Mr. Dennis H. Lanier, age 78, of Aiken, S.C. entered into rest at Select Specialty Hospital in Augusta, Ga. on February 17, 2014. A native of Meter, Georgia, Dennis was the son of the late Johnson Brown Lanier and the late Lois Harvell Lanier. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Lila H. Lanier; a daughter, Debbie (Randy) Reed of Montmorenci, S.C.; a son, Dennis (Linda) H. Lanier, Jr. of Graniteville, S.C. and a granddaughter, Emily Reed of Montmorenci, S.C. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his older brother, W. Don Lanier. Dennis was a graduate of the University of S. C. and was a loyal Gamecock. He retired from Avondale Mills with 15 years of service, after having worked for Graniteville Company for 25 years. Dennis enjoyed working in the yard, and he loved trees, shrubs and flowers. He was known for his camellias, roses and exotic plants, which he enjoyed sharing with friends. A service celebrating his life will be held on Thursday, February 20, 2014 at 3:00 PM in the Chapel of Napier Funeral Home with Rev. Robert L. (Bob) Boone officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. The interment will follow the service at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Graniteville, S.C. The Pallbearers will be Howard Gnann, Stanley Moody, Craig Burgess, Steve Arthur, Tom Tantillo, Donnie Turner, Owen Clary and Herbert Padgett. Honorary Pallbearers will be Alton Smith, Lester Boyd, Cathy Kvartek and Julian Proctor. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Stiefeltown Baptist Church, 14 Springwood Loop, Warrenville, S.C. 29851 or to the American Heart/Stroke Association, 4217 Park Place Court, Glen Allen, Virginia 23060-9979.
