Claire Jean Merchant

MERCHANT- Miss Claire Jean Merchant, age 57, of Clearwater, S.C., daughter of the late Wesley William Merchant and the late Pauline Stevens Merchant, entered into eternal rest on Friday, April 29, 2011. She is survived by sisters and a brother-in-law, Martha M. and Jerry Hutto of Aiken, S.C. and Margie R. Merchant of California; nephews, Christopher M. Hill of Sumter, S.C. and Steven E. Hill of Spartanburg, S.C. She was preceded in death by a brother, Wesley William Merchant, Jr. She was born in Augusta, Ga. but has been a lifelong resident of Aiken County, S.C. She was employed with McDonald’s in Clearwater. She was of the Baptist faith. She was a loving sister, sister-in-law and aunt; but above all, she was a Christian, who loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends, but there is comfort in knowing that life for her has not ended; just only begun in a place where life and love never ends. Her family can be with her again one day and separations will come no more. A graveside service celebrating her life and homegoing will be held on Tuesday, May 3, 2011 at 11:00 AM at the Langley Cemetery in Langley,S.C. with Rev. Tad Marshall and Rev. Jim Stephens officiating. At the family’s request, there will be no viewing or visitation with the family at the funeral home.
