Callie Thomas Yonn

YONN-Ms. Callie Thomas Yonn, age 101, of Graniteville, S.C., wife of the late Delphin D. Yonn and daughter of the late Eugene C. Thomas, Sr. and the late Fannie Graham Thomas, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Monday, October 15, 2012. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Emma Ruth and Bruce A. Herring of Graniteville; a grandson, Rex A. (Cyndi) Herring; a great grandson, Andrew Thomas Herring; granddaughter, Laurie L. (Glenn) Rowe; great grandsons, Tyler and Matthew Rowe; great granddaughter, Callie Rowe; and a sister, Juanita Thomas Taylor of Aiken, S.C. She was born in Lyons, Ga. but has been a lifetime resident of Aiken County, S.C. She was a dedicated member of the First Baptist Church of Graniteville, S.C., where she was a Sunday School teacher for many years and a member of the church choir. She retired from Graniteville Company with over 25 years of service. After her husband’s death, she went to work for her sister’s daughter and her husband (Doug and Joy Silas) at the Chick -N- Snack and worked another 25 years until the age of 92, and she loved every minute of it. She will be greatly missed by her family and many friends; however, God granted Callie a long good life on this earth and even now, life for her has not ended; she has just made a transition to her new Heavenly home, where she will have a new body with no more pain or sorrow. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday evening, October 17th from 6:00 until 8:00 PM. A service of remembrance will be held at the First Baptist Church of Graniteville on Thursday, October 18th at 2:00 PM with Rev. Todd Sessions officiating. The interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Langley, S.C. The family wishes to thank the First Baptist Church for all their love and guidance for so mnay years, to Hospice for their love and support this past year, and to Sammie, at Napier Funeral Home for his kindness and help.
