HERRON-Mr. Bobby Edward Herron, age 78, of Augusta, Ga., loving husband for 56 wonderful years to Betty Gregory Herron and son of the late Wilbur and Sally Green Herron, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, May 11, 2013. In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons; Bobby E. (Donna) Herron, Jr. of Augusta, Ga., William D. Herron of Scottsdale, Arizona and Wilbur Elijah Herron of Augusta, Ga.; daughters, Joyce F. Herron of Augusta, Ga., Betty Faye (Adam) Culley of North Augusta, S.C.; brother, Wilbur E. Herron, Jr., Warrenville, S.C. and a sister, Frances Lemons of Chickashaw, Oklahoma; 13 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Elizabeth Walker. He was born in Aiken County, S.C. but has been a resident of Richmond County for over 50 years. He was a member of the First Pentecostal Church of Augusta. He was a US Army Veteran having served his country during the Korean Conflict, a member of the American Legion Post #63 in Augusta, a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans and the National Rifle Association. He was a true family man, who loved his wife and family with all of his heart, and next to his family and God, came his love for camping and fishing. Yes, he shall be greatly missed by his family, friends and all whose lives he touched during the 78 precious years that God granted him on this earth; however, death is not the end for the Christian, as God has promised eternal life for all who believe and trust in Him. He has just made that great transition to his new Heavenly home with no more pain or sorrow. The family will receive friends at the funeral home this evening, Tuesday, May 14th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. A service celebrating his life and home going will be held in the Chapel of Napier Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at 3:00 PM with Rev. Jeff Jones officiating. The interment will follow at the Graniteville Cemetery with Military Honors. The pallbearers will be Benny Herron, Joey Gregory, Stan Moore, Jacob Herron, Donnie Smith and Tommy Gregory. The family wishes to extend a heartfelt “Thank You†to Home Care Spinal Cord of the VA Hospital in Augusta and to Sheila Rosier, CNA for the loving care that they gave to their loved one during his illness.
