Betty J. Derrick

December 31, 1969 — November 12, 2011

DERRICK-Mrs. Betty J. Temples Derrick, age 71, of Aiken, S.C., loving wife of John C. Derrick, and daughter of Frances Plunkett Temples and the late Finley Temples, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, November 12, 2011. In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Timothy J. and Lisa Derrick of Aiken, S.C.; a sister, Linda K. Rushton of Wagener, S.C.; grandsons, Jonathan L. Derrick and his wife, Stephanie and Justin T. Derrick; a great grandson, David S. Derrick; a nephew and a niece. She was born in and was a lifelong resident of Aiken County, S.C. She was a retired dietitian with the Aiken County School District. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend to many. Needless to say, she shall be greatly missed by her family and all whose lives she touched during the 71 precious years that God granted her on this earth; however, “To be absent from the body, is to be present with the Lord”. She has just gone home to a better land, where there will be no more pain or sorrow. She shall live on forever in the hearts of her family and loved ones. A service celebrating her life will be held on Tuesday, November 15, 2011 at 3:00 PM in the Chapel of Napier Funeral Home with Rev. Taylor Wells and Rev. Raymond Eargle officiating. The interment will follow at Aiken Memorial Gardens. The pallbearers will be Jonathan Derrick, Justin Derrick, Eugene Rushton, Bobby Owens and Wayne Derrick. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the funeral service on Tuesday. Memorials, in her honor, may be made to the Alzheimer’s Assoc., 3223 Sunset Blvd., Suite 100, West Columbia, S.C. 29169. Napier Funeral Home, 315 Main Street, Graniteville, S.C. 29829 is in charge of the funeral arrangements. You can visit the online guest register at www.napierfuneralhomeinc.com.
