Audrey Wood Durden

December 31, 1969 — September 28, 2012

DURDEN – Mrs. Audrey Wood Durden, age 80, of Warrenville, S.C., loving wife of Earl E. Durden, Sr., and daughter of the late Jesse “Cliff” Wood and the late Maggie Mae Williams Northcott, entered into eternal rest on Friday, September 28, 2012. In addition to her husband, she is survived by sons, Earl E. (Stephanie) Durden, Jr. of Graniteville and Steven D. (Vicky) Durden of North Augusta; grandchildren, Jason (Lisa) Durden, Jennifer (Austin) Bishop, Courtney (Jason) McLendon, Brent (Lauren Justice) Durden and six great grandchildren. She was born in Graniteville, S.C. and has been a lifelong resident of Aiken County. Up to her failing health, she was a dedicated member of Warrenville United Methodist Church. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend, with an unconditional love for her family. She shall be greatly missed by her family, friends and all whose lives she touched during the 80 precious years that God granted her on this earth; however, there is a consolation in knowing that life does not end with death, as God has promised eternal life for all who believe on Him. God looked down and decided that He needed another flower for His garden, so he picked Mrs. Durden; and earth’s loss is now Heaven’s gain. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday evening, October lst from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. A service celebrating her life and home going will be held on Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at 12:00 Noon at Warrenville United Methodist Church in Warrenville, S.C. with Rev. Alan Quarles officiating. The entombment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Langley, S.C. The pallbearers will be, Jason Durden, Austin Bishop, Brent Durden, Jason McLendon, Leonard McBurney, Jr. and Johnnie Durden. Memorials, in Mrs. Durden’s honor, may be made to Warrenville United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 38, Graniteville, S.C. 29829.
