Alonzo Jordan

December 31, 1969 — May 22, 2011

JORDAN-Julius “Alonzo” Jordan, age 73, of Vaucluse, S.C., loving husband for 54 years to Shirley Franklin Jordan and son of the late Julius Luther “J.L.” Jordan and the late Mahala Altman Jordan, entered into eternal rest on Monday, May 23, 2011. In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters, Cynthia “Cindy” Dyer of Vaucluse, S.C., Tammy R. (AL) Smith of Grovetown, Ga. and Twyla Barton of Johnston, S.C.; sons, William A. “Billy” (Lynette) Jordan of Beech Island, S.C. and Brad Dyer of Vaucluse, S.C.; sisters, Marilyn Fain and Geraldine (Rev. Cecil) Goff both of Graniteville, S.C., Mary Ellen Bowers of Blue Ridge, Ga. and Maxine(Billy) Gibson of Johnston, S.C.; a foster sister, Fannie Lee DuBose; brothers, Ronnie (Frances) Jordan and David Jordan both of Graniteville, S.C.; four grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. He was born in Vaucluse, S.C. and was a lifelong resident of Aiken County. He was a member of the First Assembly of God Church on Croft Mill Road in Aiken, S.C., where he served as a Deacon. Alonzo, as he was so fondly known by his family and friends was a loving husband, brother, Dad and grandfather. He was kind, caring and never met a stranger and these qualities yielded him many friends. Yes, he shall be greatly missed by his family, many friends and all whose lives he touched during the 73 years that God granted him on this earth; but there is a consolation in knowing that life does not end with death for a Christian because the gift of God is eternal life, and he has just gone to receive his reward at his new Heavenly home with no more pain or sorrow. A service celebrating his life and home going will be held on Wednesday, May 25, 2011 at 3:00 PM in the Chapel of Napier Funeral Home with Rev. Cecil Goff and Rev. John Watts officiating. The interment will follow at the Vaucluse Cemetery. The pallbearers will be Cody Jordan, Julius Jordan, Ron Jordan, Don Jordan Leland Wood and Raymond Wood. The family will receive friends at the funeral home tonight, Tuesday, May 24th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Napier Funeral Home, 315 Main Street, Graniteville, S.C. 29829 is in charge of the funeral arrangements. You may visit the online guest register at www.napierfuneralhomeinc.com
