Alice Hughes Cotney

COTNEY-Mrs. Alice Hughes Cotney, age 75, of Warrenville, S.C., loving wife for 51 years to Larry Lee Cotney and daughter of the late Dock Hughes and the late Eva Elizabeth Brown Hughes, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, April 27, 2013. In addition to her husband, she is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Melissa and Lane Cook of Evans, Ga., Eva and Jeff Evans of Aiken, S.C., Stacy and Steven Shirey of Grovetown, Ga.; a son and daughter-in-law, Timothy and Angela Miles-Cotney of Warrenville, S.C.; sisters, Mary Lou Johnson and Sara (Kenneth) Taylor both of Laurens, S.C.; 10 grandchildren, Angel Bell, Karlie Cotney, William Miles, Joseph Cotney, Caleb Evans, Myles Shirey, Madlynn Shirey, Maykayla Cook, Lexi Cook, Madison Cook and one great grandchild, Remee Bell. She was born in Laurens County, S.C. but has been a resident of Aiken County for the past 52 years. She was a dedicated member of Millbrook Baptist Church in Aiken, where she worked with the Church Daycare for 30 years. She was well known and loved by all in the Aiken Community. She will be greatly missed by her family, many friends and all whose lives she touched during the 75 precious years that God granted her on this earth; however, life for her has not ended as God has promised eternal life for all who believe in Him. She has just made that great transition to her new Heavenly home where all is joy and peace, and there is no more pain or sorrow. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, April 29th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. A service celebrating her life and home going will be held at Millbrook Baptist Church in Aiken, S.C. on Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at 2:00 PM with Dr. Gary Powell officiating.
