EAGEN-1ST. SGT. RETIRED CHARLES A. EAGEN, age 81, of Warrenville, S.C., loving husband of Orell Baker Byers Eagen and son of the late Clarence and Katherine Wallace Eagen, entered into rest on Sunday, April 20, 2014. In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters, Connie Crutchfield of Texas, Robin Hamilton of Windsor, S.C., Karen Beard of Warrenville, S.C. and Carla Nappier of North Augusta, S.C.; sons, Carl Eagen of Texas, Charles Eagen of Germany, William Byers of Aiken, S.C.; Danny Byers, Bruce Byers and Noah Byers all of Warrenville, S.C.; a brother, Mikie Eagen of Tallahassee, Florida; sisters, Gertrude Blauvelt and Cathy Armstrong both of New Jersey; thirty-four grandchildren and twenty-eight great grandchildren. He was born in Lackawanna, PA., but has been living in Warrenville, S.C. for the past three and a half years. He was a member of Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church in Gloverville, S.C. He was a retired US Army Veteran with over twenty years of dedicated service to his country, having bravely served during the Vietnam War. During this service, he received several medals, including the Bronze Star, the Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Vietnam Service Metal. He was a member of the American Legion Post #267 in Ormond Beach, Florida and the VFW in New Ellenton, S.C. He was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend who was devoted to his family and country. He shall be greatly missed by all whose lives he touched during his lifetime on earth; however, he has finished his journey and is now at peace with his Maker. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday evening, April 24th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. A service celebrating his life will be held Friday, April 25, 2014 at 3:00 PM in the Chapel of Napier Funeral Home with Sister Maureen officiating. The interment with Full Military Honors will be held at the Warrenville Cemetery in Warrenville, S.C.
